Case Study: Building a Helpful Website That Ranks on Page One
Overview
Coop Castle is a backyard chicken-keeping website that I built and run myself. It's aimed at Australian chicken keepers who want practical, easy-to-follow advice.
The goal was to build pages people would actually find in Google and use, rather than a site that just looks nice.
What I Built

- Breed guides that answer the exact questions people search for
- Free coop size and run size calculators
- Fast, mobile-friendly pages with clear titles and descriptions
The Result
In the 28 days to early October 2026, Coop Castle got 77 clicks from Google, up from 69 the month before, and more people clicked when they saw it (1.3% of the time, up from 0.9%).
Its breed guides now sit on the first page of Google for searches like 'white chicken breeds australia' and 'black and white chicken breeds', and the calculators are starting to bring in visitors too.
